You know the phrase “It’s God’s money, why are you mad?” that’s been related from certain places with respect to the CEF/DIL losses?

Would you believe it’s a tactic used by abusers and their defenders to minimize what the abuser did in an effort to get the abuser off the hook?

Here’s a citation from one of Wade’s posts on the matter:

The injury scale is used to give the impression that the abuse was not “really” abuse. Phrases like “boundaries were crossed” or “mistakes were made” blur the true nature of the wrong. Attempts are made to suggest no serious harm was done and that too much is being made of it.

Abusers and their enablers might try to invent two scales to justify the abuse: a victim scale and an injury scale.

Both are used when it’s undeniable abuse occurred and irrefutable that the abuser is at fault.

The goal of each is to escape penalty.

Attention is drawn to the victim’s background, attire, personality, decisions, failure to prevent, past relationships, and motives to push them down the “victim scale” they receive some blame.

Both scales put the spotlight on the victim when it ought to remain on the abuser.

But the spotlight distorts the truth or only reveals what the abuser wants to be revealed so enablers declare to the victim:

“You are partly to blame.”

“Get over it. It’s not a big deal.”
