We’ve all heard “fish stories” – tall tales where the teller must be exaggerating about the size of the fish they caught, how much they won the race by, how much money they made (and lost), and the like.
The following may look like a fish tale. It is the cold, hard, truth.
After some 20 years of abusing depositors’ money and trust, then another ~3.5 years of CCAA proceedings and the church playing dumb, an assortment of players behind this sad tale will be find themselves face to face with the left hand of God’s kingdom authority. Said authority is setting aside nearly six weeks for – shall we say – “detailed” discussions. There’s so much going on the ASC is even holding seven (7) meetings to decide how to manage the hearing itself.
In 2015, the ABC Board formed the District Task Force and charged it with getting to the bottom of what happened. In 2017 ABC District President Schaeffer and the ABC BOD shut down the task force because of the pending representative action.
Getting to the truth of the matter, holding people accountable, etc. all took a back burner to keeping a lid on things and the truth under cover.
The time is coming when we’ll find out what it was that he didn’t want the rest of the church to know.
