Denial of Volition

When the whole ABC CEF / DIL mess became public, one of the first things out of the Synodical President’s office was “We can’t do anything about it” and an abject opposition to any grass-roots initiatives to help the people affected by this travesty.

This tactic has a name –

When an organization uses a form of excuse called “denial of volition”, it is claiming it doesn’t possess the ability to control certain decisions or outcomes.

By denying ability, they deny responsibility, and by denying responsibility, they can avoid liability.
