The guys over on Lutherquest are in need of a bit of correction again – in this article the author states:

This is a “half-truth” that’s been going around for a while as an argument for restructuring. The full truth is a bit afield of that. From Restructuring: You Can’t Do That!
Our entire church in Canada is only slightly larger than the Missouri Synod’s Iowa District West.
Um – no. Iowa West covers half of a single state and it only has one state’s jurisdiction to worry about, not five provinces. If you wanted an apples-to-apples comparison, Iowa is roughly the same size as Bangladesh, not Canada. For a true geographical equivalence you’d compare Canada to Australia, Brazil, China, and the United States. LCC may have the same membership as Iowa West, but that’s where the similarity ends.
From the LCMS Iowa West website:
Iowa District West consists of 170 LCMS congregations across the western half of the state of Iowa.
From a geography of Iowa page:
Iowa is 310 miles long and 200 miles wide.
In short, the LCMS Iowa West packs 170 congregations into a space 155 miles long and 200 miles wide. That’s quite a lot of congregations in a space smaller than south-central Ontario!
If Iowa West had to run an operation across the continental United States with 300 far-flung congregations instead of 170 close-together congregations, I’m confident their structure would be a bit different from what they have now.

In the May 07, 2018 – 2:51 pm LQ post that sentence should be taken in the context of its preceding sentence, which refers to “all LC-C members” in the three districts being under one centralized structure.
One hopes that no one thought the sentence was trying to convey that the geographical area of Canada is only slightly larger that the geographical area of the western half of Iowa.

This comparison had also been used by Synod to argue the case for restructuring – though they neglected to address the widely disparate population densities between LCC and Iowa West. As such, this article was partly in response to what you wrote and partly to refute Synod’s argument.
